REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP OF IPET
A student shall, at the time of his / her election, be following a course acceptable as the minimum requirement for registration as a Candidate Technologist by the Statutory Registering Authority. This course is presently an accredited Bachelors Degree in Technology (BTech) that is presented at an accredited South African University of Technology or an equivalent qualification. The application shall be supported by one (1) person, preferably a senior member of the staff of the academic institution at which he is a student. See Fees for Fee details
A Graduate is a person who has obtained a qualification acceptable for registration as a Candidate Technologist by the Statutory Registering Authority. An Associate Member is a person who has an educational qualification acceptable to the Statutory Registering Authority for registration as a Professional Technologist (Engineering) but lacks sufficient experience at professional level. The application shall be proposed by two (2) members, who are graded Member or higher or two (2) persons with equivalent qualifications and experience. See Fees for Fee details
A Member is a person who is registered as a Profession Technologist (Engineering) with the Statutory Registering Authority, or was admitted to membership before 1 August 1989. The application shall be supported by two (2) corporate members of the Institute or two (2) persons with equivalent qualifications and experience. See Fees for Fee details
The grade of fellow recognises distinction in the engineering profession. Only members of at least five (5) years standing may apply or be nominated for election to this grade. The candidate must show proof of at least five (5) years of superior responsibility and leadership in the profession and an important contribution to the profession. The application shall be supported by two (2) Fellows of the Institute with equivalent qualifications and experience. See Fees for Fee details |
